CK USAID ICAN ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT
Disaster Risk Reduction
An emergency may strike at any time, overwhelming the most vulnerable people and leaving them with virtually nothing. And in case of an emergency, Caritas Kabale Diocese gets involved in the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for addressing all aspects of emergencies, in particular preparedness, response and initial recovery steps so as to avoid the escalation of an event into a disaster.
Caritas Kabale Diocese is mainly focused on disaster risk reduction through systematic efforts to analyze and manage the causal factors of potential disasters, including through reduced exposure to hazards, lessened vulnerability of people and property, wise management of land and the environment, and improved preparedness for adverse effects. All the poverty eradication interventions within Caritas are aimed at reducing the vulnerability of the people to disasters.
