Savings and Lending systems
CARITAS trains the orphaned and vulnerable persons on financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills in order to build their financial capabilities. This is tailored so that they are able to make informed decisions, save money, manage their group finances, develop business plans, budget, utilize banking services and manage debts/loans appropriately under the Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) model.
Each established group is supported with a starter capital of UGX. 1,000,000 (one million shillings) to promote Income Generating Activities, and this amount is deposited to each of the group’s account in the Local SACCO in an effort to link them to financial institutions.
